Douglas County Hazard Mitigation Plan

Draft Plan Available for Review and Comment

Douglas County, including the Villages of Lake Nebagamon, Oliver, Poplar, Solon Springs, and Superior, have been meeting over the past year to discuss (and have identified) over a dozen natural hazards that occur within the county. March 2021 was welcomed by the development of a Hazard Mitigation Planning Committee, made up of residents and local officials, committed to addressing these topics.

To ensure this plan is carried out effectively and successfully, the committee are asking the public to also influence the direction of this plan through a careful review and feedback of this plan.

The draft plan is now available for review and comment through

May 31, 2022.

The committee focused on:

  1.  Identifying a risk assessment (hazards);
  2.  Capability assessment (tools to implement strategies);
  3.  Mitigation strategies (specific action goals, actions, action plan to reduce risks); and
  4.  Development of a plan maintenance discussion (how the plan will be updated, reviewed, and maintained)

The draft plan can be viewed online at:
