Intake & Assessment

Services Provided
Intake and Assessment consists of Child Protection Investigative services and Access Intake services involving children.

An Access Intake worker responds to inquiries regarding child protection reports, offer of services for children and families, CLTS referrals, referrals for voluntary kinship care, foster parent licensing, and certification for child care providers. Calls may be forwarded to the designated unit. The Access Intake function is an information gathering process for both mandatory and voluntary services.

Child Protection Investigative Services is a mandated risk assessment service. Child Protection workers receive and respond to reports of abuse or neglect of children, conduct initial and family assessments, and develop and implement protective, safety and case plans. Referrals are made to safety services and change-orientated services supporting families.
Child Protection Investigative Services provides community education on child protection and mandatory reporting to area school systems and other community partners in an ongoing effort to increase understanding and build collaborative relationships.

The unit also provides foster care licensing, childcare certification, and administers the Kinship Care program. Support services are also coordinated with children having a developmental or physical disability.
