Department Purpose
The Finance Department’s primary purpose is to develop, implement, and administer an efficient financial system to accurately provide financial information that accounts and identifies all the financial resources of the County. Financial records are kept in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and with Government Accounting, Auditing, and Financial Reporting (GAAFR) guidelines. 

Responsibilities

Departmental responsibilities include:
  • Developing the County’s annual budget in conjunction with the County Administrator
  • Monitoring financial records and transactions
  • Preparing financial statements and reports, which include: Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR)Single Audit Report
  • Providing internal auditing services
  • Administering the County’s accounts payable and payroll functions
  • Maintaining fixed asset reporting system
  • Providing technical assistance and report writing services to the various County departments and committees
