Election Security

Douglas County uses Election Systems & Software (ES&S) for its voting system technology. The tabulation systems are submitted to rigorous and lengthy test campaigns as part of the Election Assistance Commission's (EAC) Voting System Certification Program. ItEss Logo details security and performance standards that were developed by scientists, academicians and election officials.

Election Equipment Security

DS200

All municipalities within Douglas County use the DS200 Precinct Scanner and Tabulator for elections. The DS200 maintains the highest levels of physical and digital security controls. This paper-based system maintains paper vote records and takes digital images of each processed ballot. Lockable doors, tamper-evident seals and access codes to secure sensitive components and election files assist in making this device secure.

ExpressVote

All municipalities within Douglas County have the ExpressVote universal voting system available as a ballot marker, most used by persons with disabilities, as needed or requested. The system provides voter confidence with onscreen printed and audio playback (with headphones) for vote selection verification. The unit's security features physical and system access controls including lockable doors, tamper-evident seals and access codes.
