Douglas County has over 300 miles of groomed snowmobile and winter ATV trails.  As conditions change throughout the season, be sure to get the latest update on trail conditions by clicking on the links below, or by calling the Douglas County Trail Hotline 24 hours a day 7 days a week at (715) 378-4528.

Trail Openings/Closings & Current Trail Conditions Report
This report contains information provided by club members of the Northwest Trails Association, as compiled by the Douglas County Forestry Department.  The report will be updated weekly throughout the riding season or as soon as the information becomes available.  During times when only limited portions of the trail system are open or closed, a map displaying such designations will be included with the report.

These press releases contain trail opening and closing information.  Information will be updated throughout the riding season as weather conditions change.


Other Recreational Trails
Tri-County Corridor
The Tri-County Corridor connects the cities of Ashland and Superior via approximately 62 miles of improved railroad grade in Ashland, Bayfield, and Douglas Counties.  This trail parallels the north side of US Highway 2 as it passes through the forest, though not on state forest property.
