Informal Administration
Informal Administration
Informal administration is the administration of a decedent’s estate, with or without a Will, without the continuous supervision by the court.  Informal Administration is supervised by the Register in Probate. While an attorney is not necessary in an Informal Administration, you may want to seek the advice of an attorney at any time during the probate proceeding. If the decedent left no Will, Waivers and Consents are necessary from all interested persons to proceed with an informal administration.

More information can be found in A Guide to Informal Estate Administration in Wisconsin.  Forms for Informal Administration can be downloaded from the Wisconsin Court System.

If the estate earned less than $600 in income from the date of death to the closing of the probate, you may not need the closing certificate.
