Special Camping Permits

Permits are available at the Douglas County Forestry Department Office located on Business Highway 53 in Solon Springs, approximately 30 miles south of Superior.  Contact the Forestry Department at (715)378-2219 or email forestry@douglascountywi.org to receive additional information.  Permits may also be purchased by mailing the "REQUIRED PERMIT INFORMATION" (see below) with a check or money order to:

Permits allow wilderness camping on Douglas County forest land pursuant to Douglas County Forestry Ordinance 7.2.  Special wilderness camping is not permissible on Special-Use Land (i.e., a designated campground, Bird Sanctuary).  Permit cost is $10.00 (for up to ten (10) days with a maximum of 30 days allowed at one location.  Permits must be displayed on the outside of the camping unit in a readily visible area.

REGULATIONS

	Camp only at the designated location.
	Permit limited to ten (10) days.  (Maximum of three (3) permits per group/site); 2,640 feet (1/2 mile between repeat group).
	Maximum of three (3) permits per group/site.
	Each camping unit must have its own permit.
	Permit includes a 200-foot privacy radius around the designated site.  No one may camp within that area without permission from the permit holder.
	No campsites may be reserved.
	Do not cut any living trees or bushes.
	Take all refuse with you when you leave and dispose of properly.  Leave a clean campsite.
	No campfires during WI DNR imposed fire bans.
	All campfires must be completely extinguished before leaving the site.
	Douglas County reserves the right to terminate this permit at any time for any reason.  Your conduct will determine whether this camping privilege will be continued.
