DUTIES OF THE REAL PROPERTY LISTER
(as listed in Chapter 70.09 of the Wisconsin Statutes)

1.      To prepare and maintain accurate ownership and description information for all parcels of real property in Douglas County (except City of Superior). That information includes the following:

Parcel Identification Numbers
Current ownership from the latest accurate document recorded with the Register of Deeds
Current mailing and property addresses
Accurate brief legal descriptions used for assessing and taxing property
Calculated land acreages, from the best available information on file, for assessment roll purposes
Assessment rolls
Special districts
Special assessments and charges, as provided by the municipalities
DNR forest land contracts
Property splits from the latest accurate legal description recorded with the Register of Deeds
Current property assessment valuations, as provided by the municipal assessor
Parcel assessment classifications
Calculated mill rates and fair market ratios
Prepare and print property tax bills

2.      To provide various information on parcels of real property in Douglas County for the use by district assessors, city, villages,  town clerks, town treasurers, county departments, and any other person or organization requiring that information.

(Douglas County has 16 townships, five villages, and one city. The 2005 (est.) population is 43,870, per the U.S. Census Bureau. The total real estate parcel count for 2006 is 48,600. Ownership transfers for 2005/06 (est.) is 2,400, excludes property splits.)
