CHILD SUPPORT AGENCY FUNDING

The State of Wisconsin reimburses 66% of the cost of administrating the Child Support Agency.  The administrative cost includes the day-to-day operations of the Agency, indirect expenses, and the child support related expenses incurred by other departments having cooperative agreements with the Agency.  Those departments are Family Court Commissioner, Corporation Counsel, Finance, Sheriff, and Data Processing.  The Child Support Agency records the entire cost of the cooperative department's related costs, yet only receives 66% reimbursement from the state.

The Agency also receives performance-based funding.  This type of funding is based on six different statistical categories.  Funding is received when the Agency meets the minimum requirements in a given category.  In recent years, performance-based funding provided by the state has either declined or remained flat.  As a result, the county has had to use property tax levy dollars to help fund the agency.
